AeroSTREAM Workshop and training in...

On October 12–13, 2023, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, University of Zagreb (UNIZG-FSB) organized a two-day AeroSTREAM workshop in Karlovac, Croatia, bringing together experts, end-users, researchers, and students to explore the applications of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and aerial systems.

Day one featured lectures from Ivan Tomljenović, Zrinka Mesić,  Robert Ljubek, Stjepan Bogdan, and Tomislav Radišić, who shared insights on drones, lidar sensors, UAVs in nature conservation, challenges in education, and cutting-edge research projects. The afternoon introduced participants to indoor localization training led by Saxion University, focusing on motion capture systems and the integration of the PX4 ecosystem with ROS.

The second day deepened the training with both theoretical and experimental sessions, giving participants hands-on experience with UAV localization in laboratory conditions. The program concluded with a session on PR and Digital Marketing, broadening the workshop’s scope by linking technical knowledge with communication skills.

With around 50 participants from Croatia, the event was praised for its engaging lectures and highly interactive training sessions. The positive feedback has already inspired plans for additional training opportunities, reinforcing the workshop’s role as a foundation for future research and teaching in UAV technologies.
