Protostar Labs Showcasing Innovation...

As part of the AeroSTREAM consortium, Croatian SME Protostar Labs actively engaged with the European and global tech community throughout 2024 and 2025. By participating in some of the most prominent space and high-tech industry fairs, Protostar showcased its innovations, expanded its international network, and strengthened its position as a trusted partner in both the space and security sectors. 

Protostar visited:

  • International Astronautical Congress (IAC), Milan, Italy (Oct 2024)

Protostar presented its paper “FPGA-based onboard anomaly detection for OPS-SAT satellite telemetry”, attracting strong interest from researchers, agencies, and industry leaders. The event reinforced Protostar’s role in advancing sustainable space technologies and opened new pathways for collaboration.

  • Big Science Business Forum (BSBF), Trieste, Italy (Oct 2024)

At BSBF, Protostar participated in the Technology Transfer track, showcasing expertise in AI edge computing, multispectral imaging, and signal processing. Networking with SMEs and major research infrastructures offered valuable lessons and new partnership opportunities for future large-scale projects.

 

  • Space Tech Expo, Bremen, Germany (Nov 2024)

The team held B2B meetings across the supply chain, strengthening industry ties and exploring collaboration opportunities with leading space technology providers.

 

  • Control 2025, Stuttgart, Germany (May 2025)

Protostar introduced Antares, its AI-powered multispectral camera for industrial quality assurance. The product was praised for its cost-effectiveness and high performance, sparking discussions with manufacturers and integrators on real-world adoption.

  • SEFUW: Space FPGA Users Workshop, ESTEC, The Netherlands (Mar 2025)

Protostar presented ongoing ESA projects, including ProtoSDK, a platform for deploying AI to FPGAs, while engaging with Europe’s FPGA community. The team also met with ESA technical officers and gained valuable feedback to accelerate development.

 

  • ASDA 2025, Zagreb, Croatia (Apr 2025)

At Croatia’s largest defense and aerospace exhibition, Protostar demonstrated AI-powered people detection and a prototype of Antares, drawing strong interest from delegations and industry leaders.

  • ESA New Capabilities and Countries in European Space Conference, Frascati, Italy (May 2025)
     

Protostar presented its portfolio in the Electric & Electronics session, establishing numerous new contacts and positioning itself for future collaborations in ESA programs.

 

  • Space Meetings Veneto, Venice, Italy (May 2025)

The company showcased onboard data processing solutions, including ProtoSDK and custom FPGA developments, in B2B sessions with agencies, corporates, and technology providers.

  • SmallSat Europe, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (May 2025)

At its dedicated booth, Protostar demonstrated real-time cloud segmentation on FPGA, highlighting the potential of edge AI for Earth observation. The live demo attracted significant attention, generating strong leads for upcoming satellite mission partnerships.


Across these events, Protostar Labs presented its cutting-edge technologies and gained valuable insights, forged new partnerships, and expanded its role in Europe’s deep-tech ecosystem. From sustainable space applications to industrial AI, Protostar continues to demonstrate the capabilities of Croatian innovation on the international stage.
