CATEC and SAXION training in Zagreb

As part of the AEROSTREAM project, a series of engaging lectures and hands-on trainings were held from 9th to 12th December 2024 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, Zagreb, Croatia. The sessions brought together experts and participants to explore advanced topics in aerial robotics, GNSS technologies, U-space integration, and optimization tools.

9th December 2024

An interesting lecture titled "Non-linear Model Predictive Control for Multi-Rotors Aerial Robots" was delivered by Ayham Alharbat (SAXION/University of Twente), focusing on advanced control methods for UAVs.

A practical training session, "Developing and Testing Control and Navigation Algorithms for Aerial Robots with PX4 and ROS 2", was also held on the same day, led by Ayham Alharbat, offering participants hands-on experience in developing UAV control systems using cutting-edge software tools.

11th December 2024

The day began with a lecture on "Fundamentals of GNSS", presented by Alejandro Murcia (CATEC), introducing participants to the physics and engineering behind global navigation satellite systems.

This was followed by a training session on "GNSS Data Fusion for UAS", also by Alejandro Murcia, where attendees explored practical implementations of sensor fusion for UAV navigation.

Later in the afternoon, Alejandra González (CATEC) gave a lecture on "Fundamentals of U-SPACE", explaining the integration of drones into regulated airspace and the services that support large-scale UAS operations in Europe.

12th December 2024

A training session on "Solving the Vehicle Routing Problem using Google OR-Tools" was conducted by Alejandra González (CATEC), offering insight into optimization algorithms for routing logistics using real code examples.

The event concluded with a lecture titled "Exploring Visual Landing Control for UAVs: Practical Implementations" by José Antonio Álvarez (CATEC), discussing vision-based control systems and ROS-based software architectures for UAV landings.
