STEM Week 2024: Inspiring Young Minds...

From August 28 to 31, 2024, elementary school pupils in Sveti Križ Začretje participated in an engaging STEM Week organized by Denis Kotarski and Alen Šćuric from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (UNIZG-FSB) as part of the "First Voice of Zagorje, Week of Culture, Entertainment, and Sports."

Over four days, 15 enthusiastic participants explored robotics, drones, and 3D printing. The workshops began with an introduction to TinkerCAD software, allowing pupils to create simple 3D models of robot and drone components. They then learned about 3D printing, designing personal pendants that were printed for them to collect the next day.

On subsequent days, pupils delved into block programming using Scratch, gaining hands-on experience with BBC micro:bit and operating ground robots and DJI Tello quadrotor drones. By the end of the week, students had developed their programming skills and gained foundational knowledge in STEM fields, sparking their interest in technology and engineering.

The event was a resounding success, fostering creativity, collaboration, and technical skills among the young participants.
