The University of Zagreb's Faculty of Mechanical Engineering & Naval Architecture (UNIZG-FSB) recently concluded a successful research visit to Saxion University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. This collaboration took place in two parts: from April 10 to April 15, 2024, and from April 19 to April 26, 2024, focusing on multirotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
The UNIZG-FSB team, including Piljek Petar, Matija Krznar, and Denis Kotarski, worked alongside Saxion researchers from the Smart Mechatronics And RoboTics (SMART) Research Group and the ThermoPlastic Composites Application Center (TPAC). Key Saxion faculty included Prof. Abeje Mersha, Ayham Alharbat, Gerdine Meijer, and Prof. Ferrie van Hattum.
During the visit, the teams assembled and tested UAV prototypes, conducted experiments on various control methods, and performed indoor and outdoor localization experiments. Knowledge exchange occurred through guest lectures, and existing software repositories were updated.
This collaboration resulted in a strong partnership, valuable knowledge exchange, successful prototype assembly, and initial data collection for future research publications, marking significant progress in UAV technology and research.
