
On November 6, 2023, a thought-provoking panel discussion took place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized by UNISA and ICENT. The event gathered experts to discuss the current state of the innovation ecosystem within higher education institutions (HEIs) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing on capabilities, challenges, and strategies for future advancement and collaboration.
The panel featured esteemed speakers including Azemina Njuhovic from the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, Iza Razija Mesevic from the Faculty of Law at the University of Sarajevo, Lejla Kapur Pojskic from the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, and Lejla Turulja from the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Sarajevo. The discussion was moderated by Dusanka Boskovic from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo.
With 43 attendees from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, the event provided a dynamic platform for stakeholders to exchange insights on the region’s innovation landscape. The panel explored gaps within the ecosystem and discussed strategies to foster collaboration and enhance innovation across various academic and research sectors.
The session emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between HEIs, government institutions, and industries to drive forward innovation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Participants left with a clearer understanding of the opportunities and challenges ahead and a commitment to work together for the advancement of innovation in the region.
