In celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, two inspiring workshops were held on February 13, 2024, in Granada and on March 21, 2024, in Mairena del Aljarafe, Seville. Organized by CTA, the sessions aimed to engage young students with the field of autonomous aerial systems and introduce them to the future opportunities available in science and technology.

Led by speakers María Jiménez Portaz and Silvia De los Santos Trigo, the workshops brought together over 120 students and teachers from the San Isidoro School in Granada and the Juan de Mairena High School in Seville. Through hands-on presentations of the AeroSTREAM project, participants were introduced to the innovative world of aerial robotics. The sessions emphasized the importance of gender inclusivity in science and technology, showcasing the role of women in leading cutting-edge research and development in these fields.

The event highlighted the potential of European projects like AeroSTREAM to foster collaboration between public institutions, promote knowledge transfer, and inspire the next generation of scientists. The students, many of whom were previously unaware of the technologies and research being conducted in countries like Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, showed great interest. Some expressed a desire to pursue careers in robotics and physics, sparked by the engaging discussions.

This outreach effort was seen as a major success, fostering curiosity and enthusiasm for science, especially among young women. It reinforced the importance of encouraging more girls to consider careers in STEM fields and set a positive example for future educational initiatives in promoting diversity in science.
